Ceramic materials

Core areas

Ceramic materials belong to t he group of non-metallic- inorganic materials. This group can be divided in natural stones, non-metallic-inorganic glass, ceramic, inorganic binders and non-metallic single crystals. They have low electrical conductivity, are not plastic deformable, and therefore brittle. Generally they have high chemical and thermal stability and are characterized by a number of benefiting properties, which cannot be provided by metallic materials and plastics. But there are also limits in applications. These limits can be pushed out or overcome by versatile methods. Here are materials and process scientists requested, which, together with the user of the ceramic components, are teasing out the necessary properties or combinations of properties. hightech ceram Dr. Steinmann + Partner GmbH is especially focusing on this and is therefore able to offer in most cases tailored materials.
